You Are Not Alone—There Is Help and Hope

If you’ve lived under the shadow of abuse, you know the fear—the anxiety of walking on eggshells, never knowing what might trigger his rage. His words cut deep, his actions leave scars, and his threats silence you. He’s warned you not to tell anyone what happens behind closed doors. Maybe he’s a respected leader, a smooth talker who can twist the truth and make you doubt yourself.

You long for freedom, for safety. You wish you had wings to fly away from the hurt.

Take heart—help is within reach. You are not alone. People care, and most importantly, God cares. You matter. You are valuable.

The Facts

  • women experience domestic violence each year, yet 90% never report it.

  • In the U.S., a woman is battered by her partner every 12 to 15 seconds.

  • Half of the homeless women and children in America are fleeing domestic violence.

  • 50–70% of abusive men also harm children in the home.

  • The average batterer is held for less than 2 hours, and fewer than 1% serve jail time.

Understanding Abuse

Abuse isn’t always physical at first. Abusers manipulate, control, and instill fear through emotional, financial, and psychological tactics. When these methods no longer work, violence often follows.

Develop a Safety Plan

If you are in an abusive relationship, preparing to leave safely is crucial. Develop a plan for yourself and your children before a violent episode so you can flee when necessary.
